About Finca Querencia

Finca Querencia, where Pueblo Chico Coffee is grown, is more than just a coffee farm—it’s a sanctuary for life in all its forms. Nestled in a hanging valley in San Luis, Monteverde, Costa Rica, our farm is surrounded by the misty hillsides of virgin rainforest and lies next to the renowned Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. This special location not only nourishes our coffee but also fosters an environment teeming with biodiversity.

The name "Querencia" comes from the Spanish word for a place where one feels at home or finds strength. It reflects our deep connection to the land and our commitment to preserving its natural beauty. We are a family-run farm, with three generations working together to cultivate coffee in harmony with nature.

A Haven for Wildlife

Finca Querencia is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, including coatis, toucans, monkeys, frogs, and a dazzling array of birds and insects. By farming without chemicals, we create a safe environment where these creatures can thrive. Our location next to the Monteverde Reserve further enriches this haven, as our farm acts as an extension of the reserve’s efforts to conserve biodiversity.

Our goal is not just to grow exceptional coffee but to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the land. We plant native trees, maintain wildlife corridors, and ensure that Finca Querencia is a welcoming place for all life—wildlife, plants, and people alike.

Planting for the Future

We’re proud to partner with the nonprofit organizations Palo Vivo and the Costa Rican Conservation Foundation to expand our efforts in sustainability and reforestation.

• Palo Vivo works to restore degraded landscapes by planting native and climate-resilient trees, with a mission to rebuild ecosystems and increase carbon sequestration. Their reforestation projects help create new habitats for wildlife and support sustainable land use practices.

• The Costa Rican Conservation Foundation focuses on preserving Monteverde’s unique biodiversity, protecting critical watersheds, and promoting sustainable development. Their projects help safeguard the incredible ecological richness of the region for future generations.

For every bag of Pueblo Chico Coffee purchased, we plant a tree through these organizations, contributing to the restoration of native forests and the protection of vital ecosystems. Together, we are working to ensure that Monteverde remains one of the most ecologically vibrant places on Earth.
